An apparatus and a method for receiving a signal in a communication system are provided to improve decoding performance by minimizing a decoding error of the reception signal. A receiver includes a plurality of sub decoding modules corresponding to a plurality of transceivers. A decoder(172) of a signal receiver includes sub decoding modules(210,220) corresponding to the number of the transmission signals transmitted by a transmitter. A matrix calculator(252) receives a first channel matrix among the channel matrices formed between the plurality of transmitting and receiving antennas and calculates the nulling matrix of the first channel matrix. A first determiner(254) receives the nulling matrix of the first channel matrix and determines a first removal sequence. A divider divides the first removal sequence from the nulling matrices of the first channel matrix. A first multiplier(262) outputs the first decoding signal corresponding to the first reception signal by multiplying the divided first removal sequence by the first reception signal among the received signal in the plurality of reception antennas. A second determiner(264) performs the nonlinear interference removal calculation for the first decoding signal and determines the symbol of the first removal sequence. The calculator outputs a second reception signal which is the next signal of the first reception signal by using the symbol of the first removal sequence.
