The vent filter for transmission systems comprises a cylindrical housing containing a glass microfiber coalescence filter (1), above which is a ring demister (2). A hydrophobic membrane (3) is mounted above this, and connects with the vent outlets (9). Channels (6) at the base of the filter recirculate separated oil into the transmission system. An independent claim is included for a method for venting transmission systems using the filter.
