PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents scattering of an unwanted matter produced in an image forming part and temperature rise in a housing, and also which excels in quiet sound. SOLUTION: A suction port 1011 is provided on the wall surface 101 opposed to one end of a photoreceptor drum 111 of the box type housing 10 including the image forming part 11, a transfer part 12 and a fixing part 13, and an exhaust port 1021 is provided on the base 102 of the housing 10. Air in a duct 15 provided by connecting from the suction port 1011 to the exhaust port 1021, making the air pass inside via the image forming part 11 so as to remove the unwanted matter produced in the image forming part 11, and crossing between the image forming part 11 and the fixing part 13 in the middle of a path leading to the exhaust port 1021 from the suction port 1011 is discharged from the exhaust port 1021 provided on the base 102 of the housing 10 by using a ventilating fan 40.
