PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of securing security with a simple configuration when using a general-purpose external storage device to form an image. SOLUTION: A digital composite machine 10 includes: a mounting part 23 to and from which a USB memory 24 having peculiar identification information can be attached and detached; an image forming means for forming an image; a reading means for reading out the identification information of the USB memory 24 mounted on the mounting part 23; and a control means for controlling the operation of the image forming means in accordance with identification information read out by the reading means.
