PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a sign having possibility to generate abnormality, while reducing an arithmetic load and to increase the reliability of the determination of the sign. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus having a sensor and a control parameter adjusting means is provided with: a state storage means which stores a plurality of kinds of state data being the value of a control parameter, detection data by the sensor and evaluation data produced based on the detection data; an object data producing means which produces or extracts a plurality of kinds of object data for abnormal sign determination from the plurality of kinds of state data; a first discrimination means which discriminates the presence/absence of the abnormal tendency of each object data by whether or not each object data is not more than or more than each reference value set to each object data; and a second discrimination means which gives weight set to each object data to the discrimination result to each object data of the first discrimination means and determines the presence/absence of the abnormal sign in the whole of the plurality of kinds of object data by decision by a majority.
