PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector in which lightness of a video image on a screen is uniformed by correcting video signal information after performing video signal processing including scaling processing. SOLUTION: A projector includes a luminance correction circuit 4 which corrects a video signal SI outputted from a video signal processing circuit 2. The luminance correction circuit 4 includes a horizontal LUT for storing a horizontal correction coefficient Kh for each horizontal address and a vertical LUT 24 for storing a vertical correction coefficient Kv for each vertical address. Further, the luminance correction circuit 4 operates a correction coefficient K based on the horizontal correction coefficient Kh and the vertical correction coefficient Kv at a pixel position designated by an address counter 22, corrects the video signal SI processed by the video signal processing circuit 2 on the basis of the correction coefficient K, and outputs a corrected video signal SO to a display element driving circuit (e.g., liquid crystal panel driving circuit 5).
