PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator with an accurate parallel movement and a long stroke while restraining cost increase. SOLUTION: In the linear actuator, a lower mounting frame 11 and an upper mounting frame 21 are horizontally arranged facing each other, a lower screw shaft 30 and an upper screw shaft 40 are vertically supported on the lower mounting frame 11 and the upper mounting frame 21, a lower rotary shaft 51 and an upper rotary shaft 61 are rotatably supported on the lower mounting frame 11 and the upper mounting frame 21, a lower nut 55 screwed into the lower screw shaft 30 and an upper nut 65 screwed into the upper screw shaft 40 are respectively fixed on the lower rotary shaft 51 and the upper rotary shaft 61, and the lower rotary shaft 51 and the upper rotary shaft 61 are driven by a worm-wheel reduction gear at a forward and reverse rotation state. The lower mounting frame 11 and the upper mounting frame 21 are connected by a parallel ruler mechanism 12.
