PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function adding apparatus that relays a network terminal and network equipment and adds a new function to the network equipment. SOLUTION: The function adding apparatus 100 includes: first and second network interfaces 206 and 208; a packet relay processing section that uses the network interfaces 206 and 208 to relay a packet between terminals on both networks without changing address information of transmission source and transmission destination terminals of the packet; an HTTP/HTTPS decode processing section 252 and an HTTPS/HTTP encode processing section 258 for converting an HTTPS packet which is addressed to equipment on a first network, among packets relayed by the packet relay processing section, into an HTTP packet and converting an HTTP packet from the equipment on the first network into an HTTPS packet to a transmission source of the HTTPS packet.
