The heat exchanger for gas comprises a core (2) intended for the flow of gases with exchange of heat with a coolant fluid, a metal casing (3) in which the said core (2) is housed, at least one mounting plate (4) connected to at least one of the ends of said core (2) and in turn connected to one end of said casing (3), and at least one gas reservoir (5) or connection element (9) connected to one end of said casing (3). It is characterized in that said casing (3) may incorporate into a single component the at least one gas reservoir (5) or connection element (9), inlet and outlet connections (6, 7) for the coolant fluid and mounts (8) for attachment to a surface in the engine compartment, the casing (3) being manufactured using an extrusion or percussion extrusion process or by casting.
