RESIN MATERIAL FOR OPTICAL USE AND OPTICAL DEVICE

Disclosed is a low-cost resin material for optical use having excellent optical stability, which exhibits excellent heat resistance and is not changed in optical performance even after long time use. Also disclosed is an optical device using such a resin material for optical use. Specifically disclosed is a resin material for optical use, which contains a curable resin and hydrophobic oxide particles. The resin material for optical use is characterized in that the hydrophobic oxide particles are obtained by hydrophobilizing uniform oxide particles wherein a silicon oxide and one or more metal oxides other than silicon oxide are uniformly distributed. The resin material for optical use is also characterized in that the hydrophobic oxide particles have a volume average particle diameter of 1-50 nm.
