The edge (10) has a hollow section (12) that is elastically flexible during force application on an outer side. A hollow chamber (34) is flexibly compressible and extendable over its entire length. The hollow chamber has two contact walls contacting with each other during compression of the hollow chamber and electrically opposing the direction of the force application. The hollow section exhibits a reduced rigidity at ends of the safety edge within an area, which lies behind the hollow chamber with the contact walls in the direction of the force application.
