<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting losses of one or more phases in an electromotor without affecting torque control, namely without causing additional oscillation or torque deterioration, during running or stop time. <P>SOLUTION: The invention is implemented in a variable speed driver 1 for control in a closed loop. This method for detecting a loss of one phase, two phases or three phases in a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous electric motor PMSM running or stopped.
