The assembly (10) has a shift assembly (18) i.e. synchronizer actuating element, interconnected to a synchronizer (12), where the shift assembly includes a shifting member (32) i.e. apply finger, disposed partially within a housing of an actuator i.e. three area piston assembly. A contact surface opposes a surface of a member i.e. large piston, of the actuator. A spacer is positioned between the shifting member and another member i.e. small piston, of the actuator. The spacer and another member are in contact with the shifting member and the former member.
