PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reading device, wherein reproduction of contents is restarted from continuance of a place at which reproduction is stopped even during dubbing to a HD from a DVD, and operability for a user is improved. SOLUTION: At the same time a control part 2 start reproduction of a DVD 100, controls both drives 20, 30 so as to start dubbing processing. When a stop key is depressed during dubbing/reproduction, the control part 2 stops only reproduction of contents data 60. Thereby, dubbing is continued, but reproduction of the contents data 60 is stopped at a reproduction stop point 60A. When re-start of reproduction is instructed during dubbing, the control part 2 reproduces successively contents data 61 recorded in a HD 30A from an address "0X0A348". Thereby, even during dubbing, contents data 61 is resume-reproduced from a reproduction restart point 61A.
