The system has a sensor for measuring whether a door is opened or closed. A holding device locks a data carrier provided in a reading position, against manual withdrawal. The sensor is coupled with the holding device in such a manner that the holding device is maintaining a mobile data carrier in the reading position during an open condition of the door, and the closing of the door is caused such that the holding device moves the data carrier into a withdrawal position, where the manual withdrawal of the data carrier is made possible in the withdrawal position. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a tray system.
