<p>The method involves comparing an actual current flow of an inductive actuator (10) with a reference current flow over a time. A deviation characteristic is formed from the comparison. The unopening of the injection valve is detected when the deviation characteristic lies in a preset value range. The deviation characteristics comprise a difference of the current gradients of the actual current flow and the reference current flow after reaching a maximum current value. The unopening is detected when the difference exceeds a limit value. An independent claim is also included for a computer program with program code for monitoring an opening of an injection valve.</p>
