PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exclusively prevent useless abnormality information indicating abnormality detected while manufacturing a vehicle to which an electronic control device is assembled, from being stored in a rewritable non-volatile memory out of abnormal information indicating abnormality detected by the electronic control device. SOLUTION: An electronic control device assembled in the vehicle performs a diagnosis process of a plurality of diagnosis objects based on signals from a sensor and the like, however, it does not store a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) that indicates abnormality in a DTC storage area in an EEPROM in the case where data of the DTC storage area (the area for storing the DTC as the abnormality information) is an initial value at manufactured time of this device even if abnormality is determined in the diagnosis process. This device determines whether all of the diagnosis objects are in a normal condition with no indication of abnormality by performing the diagnosis process (S220), and if it is determined as the normal condition, the data in the DTC storage area are rewritten by data different from the initial value for allowing storage of the DTC to the DTC storage area (S230).
