<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp unit having high safety and reduced cost, and to provide electric equipment using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The lamp unit 1 has a mercury lamp 11 as a light source in a reflector 12. Light emitted from the mercury lamp 11 is reflected by the reflector 12. A cover part 13 and a lamp fixing angle 14 each have an opening portion 15 through which the reflected light is emitted to the outside. Outside the lamp fixing angle 14, a shutter 19 is provided which has a shutter opening portion 18 corresponding to the opening portion 15.
