PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress flicker in the display device of a field sequential method. SOLUTION: A display 10 sequentially displays each single-color image of red, green and blue at every sub-field SF. A controller 20 displays each of a plurality of single-color images at every sub-field SF so that a sub-field SF which displays the single-color image of green having visual response time T shorter than that of red is located immediately after a sub-field SF which displays the single-color image of blue having the visual response time T longer than that of red.
