The column has a support core (1) comprising high performance concrete such as ultrahigh-firm concrete, which is partly or completely surrounded by a coating layer (3) from normal-fixed concrete. The support core and the coating layer posses a circular, elliptical, square or polygonal cross section. A main reinforcement and/or a helical reinforcement (2) are arranged at a cross section edge of the support core or on the entire length. The coating layer and the core are tied partially or over the entire length by plates made from carbon-fiber-reinforced or glass-fiber reinforced plastic.
