PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that restriction in continuance of a memory area which can be explicitly secured and used and reference relation among data for use spoils the convenience of a memory, in a method for managing the memory by garbage collection. SOLUTION: A memory area in a computer is secured, data are generated in the memory area in accordance with the execution of a program by a processor in the computer and whether or not data necessary for the execution of the program exist in the memory area instructed to be released is checked. When the data necessary for program execution do not exist in the memory area instructed to be released as the result of check, the memory area is released. When the data necessary for the program execution exist in the memory area instructed to be released as the result of check, the data are moved to a memory area different from the memory area instructed to be released.
