[Also in Group I] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of granular or like solid material comprises a member 1 which is shaped to provide a measuring chamber and in its movement from a loading position to a discharge position passes an abutment 7 which is constructed as a comb having rubber teeth adapted to flex independently of each other to permit the passage of lumps of material contained only partly within the chamber. The member 1, which is in the form of a rotating member having vanes to provide a number of measuring chambers, is disposed between the inclined bottom walls 5, 6 of a hopper 2. The abutment 7 is disposed between the member 1 and the lower edge of the bottom wall 6 and consists of a plurality of juxtaposed rubber tubes which are clamped at their upper ends while their lower ends are free and constitute a number of independentlymovable teeth; the abutment may alternatively be constructed as a unitary moulding. In operation, clockwise movement of the member 1 through a quarter of a revolution results in material in the upper left-hand chamber being carried past the abutment 7 and delivered to a shoot 8 from which it passes to either of two compartments 10, 11 according to the setting of a deflector 9.
