The sensor (1) has a sensitive element (8), which responds to constituent gases when the element is at a temperature and which reacts to other constituent gases when the element is at another temperature that is different from the former temperature. Heating devices heat the sensitive element. The element is made up of metallic oxide. Metallic oxide is Tin oxide. A substrate (4) made up of aluminum oxide, carries the element. The heating device has a resistor (12) carried by the substrate. An independent claim is also included for a method for detection of constituent gases in a gaseous mixture and/or for measuring concentrations of the respective gases.
