[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A side wall rubber (17) is applied to the outer side of a carcass ply (12), and the diameter of a molding drum (1) is increased. Thereafter, a belt layer (19) and a tread rubber (18) are applied to the outer side of a position corresponding to the carcass ply (12) in its crown part, followed by molding of a raw tire (G). A strip-shaped rubber member (21) is applied to the raw tire (G) in its buttress part (B) to form a ring-shaped protrusion part (22). The raw tire (G) is subjected to vulcanization molding in a mold to produce a pneumatic tire having a protrusion in the buttress part.
