PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger comprising a liquid receiver capable of efficiently separating a gas-phase refrigerant and a liquid-phase refrigerant. SOLUTION: A refrigerant inflow port 29 and a refrigerant outflow port 31 are formed on a peripheral wall of a cylindrical body 26 of the liquid receiver 7 of this heat exchanger in such a state that the refrigerant inflow port 29 is positioned at an upper part. A first baffle plate 36 positioned on a part between the inflow port 29 and the outflow port 31, a second baffle plate 37 positioned at an upper part of the inflow port 29, a cylindrical body 38 for rising the refrigerant, positioned on the second baffle plate 37, vertically extended, opened at its upper and lower both ends, and provided with a plurality of refrigerant passing holes 42 on its peripheral wall, and a swirl flow generating device 39 positioned between both baffle plates 36, 37 for swirling the refrigerant flowing in from the inflow port 29 to rise the refrigerant in the cylindrical body 38, are disposed in the liquid receiver 7. The swirl flow generating device 39 is composed of a guide member 44 having a hollow portion 46 for providing the refrigerant with swirling motion and communicating an upper part of the second baffle plate 37 and a lower part of the first baffle plate 36.
