<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional building member capable of cleaning and deodorizing air semipermanently over a long time. <P>SOLUTION: This functional building member comprises: a solar battery 2 which is arranged on one surface of a plate-like base material 1 in the state of exposing a surface; a photocatalytic portion 3 which is arranged in an exposed state on the other surface of the plate-like base material 1; and a light irradiation portion 4 which emits light by electric power generated by the solar battery 2, and which applies light to the photocatalytic portion 3. Thus, the functional building member can generate the electric power by taking in external light by means of the solar battery 2, can apply the light to the photocatalytic portion 3 by emitting the light irradiation portion 4 by the generated electric power, and can excite a photocatalyst of the photocatalytic portion 3 by the light so as to clean and deodorize the air by the photocatalytic portion 3 facing the inside of a room and the like. Consequently, the air can be semipermanently cleaned and deodorized over a long time by utilizing the action of semipermanently decomposing the organic matter, which is possessed by the photocatalyst, without depending on physical or chemical adsorption. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
