摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate clogging of nozzles and to optimize passages in a head. SOLUTION: A fluid ejecting apparatus includes: a head having a nozzle for ejecting fluid and a passage in which the fluid to be sent to the nozzle flows; a storing section that stores the fluid to be supplied to the head; a pressurizing section that applies pressure to the fluid; a discharge passage which is connected to the passage and through which the fluid may be discharged from the head without passing through the nozzle; a valve provided in the discharge passage; a reservoir that is connected to the discharge passage downstream from the valve to reserve the fluid discharged from the head; and a circulating passage which is connected to the discharge passage and connected to the storing section downstream from the valve. The fluid ejecting apparatus has an ejection mode where the fluid, with the valve closed, is pressurized and ejected from the nozzles; a discharge mode where the fluid, with the discharge passage released by the valve, is pressurized, discharged from the head, and guided to the reservoir; and a circulation mode where the fluid, with the discharge passage released by the valve, is pressurized, discharged from the head, and guided to the storing section through the circulating passage.
