PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brushless alternator for vehicles that makes it possible to enhance a cooling capability and reduce liquid splashing to and water ingress to gap portions in a rotor. SOLUTION: The brushless alternator 1 for vehicles includes a stator 2, the rotor 3, a field winding 4, a rectifier 6, a front housing 51, and a rear housing 52. The rear housing 52 includes: a disk-shaped portion extended perpendicularly to the rotating shaft 31 of the rotor 3; multiple spokes radially extended from the disk-shaped portion outward in the radial direction; a housing side wall extended from the outer circumferential ends of the spokes in the circumferential direction; and an intake window defined by the outer circumferential portion of the disk-shaped portion, the spokes, and the housing side wall. The outer circumferential portion of the disk-shaped portion is tapered so that the relation of L2>L1 holds, letting the outside diameter on the side with the rectifier 6 disposed be L1 and the outside diameter on the side with the rotor 3 disposed be L2.
