This device comprises a body (12) with a microphone (38), a plurality of visible control buttons (26-36, 42), a display (40), and a cylindrical stand (14) provided with a plug-in end (16). The body (12) has the shape of a housing flattened in an axial midplane (P) passing through the axis of the stand. The housing comprises a proximal portion (44) extending in line with the foot, and an adjoining distal portion (46) of which the largest dimension is perpendicular to the axis (X-X) of the stand in such a way that the device seen from one side has a projection in only one direction. The housing is substantially symmetrical relative to its midplane. The plug-in end (16) of the stand and the projecting portion (22) thereof adjacent to the body are connected by two hinges (48, 50) affording degrees of freedom in rotation and in inclination of the axis (Y-Y) of the plug-in end with respect to the axis (X-X) of the projecting portion.
