<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission with three shafts, namely, a first counter shaft, a second counter shaft and a reverse shaft in addition to an input shaft, and a differential driving gear on each shaft for driving a differential ring gear, having improved on-vehicle mounting property by compactly constructing the opposite engine side end of the input shaft and the opposite engine side end of the counter shaft located thereabove. <P>SOLUTION: A fifth-speed driving gear 17 which has a smaller diameter than a sixth-speed driving gear 16 is arranged at the transmission rear end of the input shaft 1, and a second-speed driving gear 25 which has a smaller diameter than a first-speed driven gear 24 is arranged at the transmission rear end of the first counter shaft 2.
