PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for pulse motor for simply detecting a step-out by using an origin sensor normally fitted to the pulse motor. SOLUTION: In the controller 25 for pulse motor 2 with origin sensor, the last one of positions to be detected by the origin sensor between a current position Ps and a final target position Pt at the rotation position of the pulse motor 2 is used as an intermediate target position Pi. In the controller 25 for the pulse motor 2, the actual arrival position is used as a step-out detecting position Pd by applying pulses to the pulse motor 2 only enough to reach the intermediate target position Pi from the current location Ps. Whether or not the origin sensor detects the origin at the step-out detecting position Pd is investigated, and the step-out of the pulse motor 2 is decided when the origin sensor does not detect the origin at the step-out detecting position Pd. Pulses only enough to reach the final target position Pt from the intermediate target location Pi are applied to the pulse motor 2 when the origin sensor detects the origin at the step-out detecting position Pd.
