PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for preventing image density from being reduced by suppressing deterioration of toner even in a long-time standby state. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with: a photoreceptor 1 on which an electrostatic latent image is formed; a heater which heats the photoreceptor 1; a developing roller 4 which develops the electrostatic latent image by using magnetic toner; a magnetic blade 11 which is composed of a magnet and regulates the thickness of the layer of the magnetic toner formed on the surface of the developing roller 4; and an internal magnet 15a which is provided in the developing roller. Furthermore, the image forming apparatus is equipped with a magnetic field reducing means for reducing the intensity of magnetic field between the magnetic blade 11 and the internal magnet in the standby state where the developing roller 4 is driven to rotate at low speed and also the heater is started.
