PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power control apparatus for suppressing a rush current flowing from a commercial AC power supply line, and supplying power to a load more quickly than before. SOLUTION: The power control apparatus comprises a step-down type power supply circuit (20) which steps down a power supply voltage of a commercial AC power supply (1) and feds it to a load (16), and a control means (11) which switches (9) a switching element (13) at a frequency higher than that of the commercial AC power supply to control an on-duty ratio so that the power supplied to the load (16) is controlled.
