PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively manufacturing a light-weight tatami having high strength and good breathability while preventing generation of mold and insects by using, as a tatami mat floor, a bamboo material which not only exists a lot naturally but also grows fast, is easy to be reproduced and has no fear of environmental pollution even when discarded. SOLUTION: A flat-plate shaped bamboo material divided into four to ten pieces in fiber direction is formed into a corrugated shape. Either of bamboo charcoal or wood charcoal is filled into the space in the tatami mat floor, which is formed with an upper sheet and a lower sheet having breathability attached to the corrugated-shaped bamboo material, and then the tatami mat floor is integrated with a tatami surface.
