A backlight unit and a display device are provided to offer brightness to recognize a displayed image effectively on both sides of the display device. Luminous elements(10) emit light. A light guide plate(20) guides the light emitted from the luminous elements. A first prism sheet(50) changes an orientation angle of light incident from the light guide plate, and emits the light so that brightness of at least one part of areas between both end sections and a central part of a display panel is higher than brightness of the central part of the display panel. A diffusion plate(40) is disposed between the light guide plate and the first prism sheet. A reflector reflects light progressing toward a lower side by passing through the light guide plate in a lower part of the light guide plate, so that the light is progressed toward an upper side. |
