A support stand 46 for a detachable peripheral device such as a liquid crystal display screen 30 includes an attachment plate (40) operably connected to the support stand 46 and a releasable connector 32 affixed to the peripheral device. The connector comprises a movable latch 36 for releasably engaging with the attachment plate 40 and an actuator 38 for disengaging the movable latch from the attachment plate. The movable latch 36 is moved up and down by the actuation of the actuator 38.
