PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of recording a clear representative image and maintaining high image quality in a non-selected image as much as possible, and to provide a camera having the image processing apparatus. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus has: an image selection means for selecting an image meeting preset conditions as a representative image from a plurality of input images; and an image capacity reduction means for reducing the image capacity by reducing the number of pixels for a non-selected image that is a remaining image except the representative image selected by the image selection means.
