Disclosed are a method and a kit for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis by genetic diagnosis or blood diagnosis. Specifically disclosed is a method for the diagnosis of the genetic sensitivity to osteoarthritis in a subject, which comprises detecting, in a DNA-containing sample collected from the subject, at least one polymorphism selected from the group consisting of polymorphisms which are found in a gene encoding an amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:2 or an amino acid sequence substantially homologous with the amino acid sequence (Dual Intracellular Von Willebrand factor A gene; DIVA gene), and in each of which the frequency of one of the alleles in an arbitrary population affected by osteoarthritis is higher than that in an arbitrary population unaffected by osteoarthritis.
