A method and an apparatus for installing printer driver of an image forming apparatus in printing environment which uses a universal printer driver are provided to install a printer driver supporting a desired function even in case of not recognizing a model name by selecting one or more functions among displayed functions and installing printer drivers. A display(610) displays functions which image forming apparatuses which are connected present support. A selecting unit(620) selects one or more functions among displayed functions. A installation unit(640) sets up a printer driver of the image forming apparatus supporting the selected function. A transceiver(600) receives the functions from outside. A searcher(630) searches the printer drivers of the image forming apparatus supporting the function selected through a selecting unit.
