PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which is less likely to be affected by environmental temperature, and consequently can eliminate the necessity of changing the control state depending on the environmental temperature. SOLUTION: The optical element 11 comprises: a liquid lens 21 including a first liquid 22 and a second liquid 23 different from the first liquid 22, wherein the liquid lens 21 is sealed in a casing 12 and a boundary surface shape 24 between the first liquid 22 and the second liquid 23 can be changed by changing voltage to be applied to the casing 12; a heater 31 capable of changing the temperature of the liquid lens 21; and a thermostat 32 for controlling the temperature of the liquid lens 21 by using the heater 31, so that the influence on the liquid lens 21 by external environmental change (environmental temperature) of the casing 12 is reduced.
