Disclosed are: a protective agent against the damage of a biological tissue caused by a near-infrared ray, which can prevent a near-infrared ray to reach the skin and a deeper tissue than the skin tissue and therefore can protect these tissues from being damaged by the near-infrared ray and inhibit the development or progression of a disease induced by such damage or the acceleration of aging; and a product produced by using the protective agent. Specifically disclosed are: a protective agent against the damage of a biological tissue caused by a near-infrared ray, which comprises a near-infrared ray transmission blocker that can absorb, reflect or scatter a near-infrared ray, and which can protect the skin in a living body and a deeper tissue than the skin tissue from being damaged by a near-infrared ray when the skin is exposed to the near-infrared ray; and a product for protecting a tissue in a living body from the damage caused by a near-infrared ray, which has a member comprising a base material and the protective agent applied, absorbed, adhered, attached or contained on or in at least a part of the base material, or comprises a medium and the protective agent contained in the medium.
