The device has a stationary electrode arrangement (16) arranged in a distance to a surface of a toner carrier (10), where toner particles (14) are adhered from the surface of the toner carrier. The electrode arrangement is supplied with alternating voltage. A suction nozzle (22) supplied with a low pressure is provided with the toner carrier, where the nozzle sucks the toner particles detached from the carrier. The carrier is supported such that the carrier is movable to the electrode arrangement, which is formed in a comb shape, and has a hard coating layer or silicon oxide layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for removing toner particles from a surface of a toner carrier.
