A method and a system for providing free contents to prepaid subscribers are provided to enable prepaid subscribers to receive free contents by connecting to a sever based on APN(Access Point Name) information even though the prepaid balance runs out. A mobile communication terminal(210) sets up APN information free of charge and requests free contents through a mobile communication network. An SCP(Service Control Point) sever(230) provides the terminal with contents through a mobile communication network, and checks over whether or not the prepaid balance of the mobile communication terminal runs out. If so, the SCP sever checks over the APN information. If the APN information is set up free of charge, the SCP sever request the mobile communication network to keep a free content call for the mobile communication terminal. An HLR(Home Location Register)(222) includes triggering detection point information to the GPRS_CSI(General Packet Radio Service_CAMEL Subscription Information) of the mobile communication terminal and transmits the GPRS_CSI to an SGSN(240).
