A software upgrade system is provided, it mainly includes main-board and backup-board, wherein, the main-board backups the configuration data of the first version software which is running on itself to the backup-board, buffers the incremental configuration data of the first version software, and sends the incremental configuration data buffered to the backup-board; the back-up board loads on itself the second version software which is for upgrade, updates the second version software with the configuration data from the main-board, updates the second version software with the incremental configuration data from the main-board, and switches the service in progress of the main-board to the backup-board. A corresponding software upgrade method is also provided, by the software upgrade system and method provided in the present invention, the uninterrupted software upgrade method of service is realized reliably, the reliability of the upgrade progress of the network device is increased, and the upgrade risk of the network device is reduced. |
