PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston cylinder unit lockable in a pushed-in state and an extracted state with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the piston cylinder unit 1 of a turnable cover such as a flap of an automobile, having a closed first end part, a cylinder 2, a piston 10 (for dividing the cylinder 2 into a first operation chamber 8 distant from the first end and a near second operation chamber 9) movably arranged in the cylinder 2, and a piston rod 5 (penetrating through the first operation chamber 8 in a concentric circle shape to the longitudinal axis A of the cylinder 2, sealed by a guiding-sealing device 4 in a second end part opposed to the first end part and appearing outside from the cylinder 2) arranged on one side of the piston 10.
