PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that can emit stable laser light having high utilization efficiency, and to provide an image display device. SOLUTION: The light source device includes: a light source 10 that emits light; a wavelength conversion element 30 that converts at least part of light into light having a predetermined wavelength; a wavelength selection section 31 through which light converted into the predetermined wavelength in the wavelength conversion element 30 passes and on which light not converted into the predetermined wavelength is reflected; and an optical path conversion element 20 that has a separating section 23 that reflects the light converted into the predetermined wavelength by making it pass through the wavelength conversion element 30 and guides the light to a position different from that of the light source 10, and transmits the light not converted into the predetermined wavelength toward the light source 10. A wavelength selection film 24 is formed on an emission end surface 20b of the optical path conversion element 20, and the selection film 24 reflects light having wavelength other than the predetermined wavelength and light having wavelength other than the wavelength of the light emitted from the light source 10. The emission end surface 20b of the optical path conversion element 20 is inclined to a surface perpendicular to a center axis O of the light that goes to the emission end surface 20b.
