A light emitting element includes a substrate, a light emitting layer arranged on the substrate, and a multilayer sealing film for sealing the light emitting layer. At least one adhesion improving layer is included in the multilayer sealing film. Preferably, the multilayer sealing film is formed by laminating at least one first film and at least one second film, and the adhesion improving layer may be formed between at least the one first film and the one second film. The first film and the second film may be organic films or inorganic films. When the both films are organic films, it is preferable that an inorganic film is arranged as a third film. The light emitting element has excellent interlayer adhesion of the multilayer sealing film, high sealing performance and long service life.
