PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mode S secondary surveillance radar which surely and easily can check the properties on P6 pulse (data block), such as, the content of signal in mode S query that is to be transmitted, phase inversion status, and performance of waveform. SOLUTION: The mode S secondary surveillance radar comprises a transmission section 121a for transmitting the mode S query, including the data block with data phase inverted by DPSK to airborne transponder 2, a generation section 112 for generating the mode S query, as well, as reference signal which synchronizes with the mode S query, without having to invert data block phase of the mode S query, and an output means 121b for outputting these mode S query and reference signal to a gauge 3 for determining phase inversion of the mode S query.
