PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the production cost of a base stock for plastic working in which a lubrication film is formed on the surface. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for producing a base stock for plastic working in which a lubrication film for preventing the base sock from burning at the time of plastic working is formed on the surface. The production method is composed of: a first stage for preworking the stock; a second stage for subjecting the surface of the stock to preheating; a third stage for applying a lubricant on the surface of the stock; and a fourth stage for drying the applied lubricant by heating the stock and further for forming a lubrication film on the surface of the stock.
