摘要 A surface light source device and a backlight unit having the same are provided to increase the efficiency of product by setting the initial breakdown voltage low. The first substrate(120) and the second substrate(130) are faced with the constant interval. A sealing member(150) is interposed between the edge part of the first and the second substrate in order to form a discharge space. The fluorescent layer is coated onto the inner surface of the first substrate. The reflecting layer is formed on the inner surface of the second substrate. The fluorescent layer is formed on the reflecting layer. A spacer(140) is installed in the discharge space in order to maintain the interval of the discharge space. A flat type surface electrode(160) of the large area is formed over the whole outer side of the light source body(110) by the first substrate and the second substrate.
